About me…
Beth Madeline Rubens
Ms. Rubens received her BA in French Language and Literature from Vassar College and her MM in Vocal Performance from The San Francisco Conservatory of Music. After working as a professional singer in the San Francisco Bay Area, she began to train in music education and received her Levels I and II Orff Schulwerk Teacher training to teach early childhood and elementary music in the classroom. Beth sang in music festivals in Italy and in San Francisco and spent a year teaching and singing in New York, and then returned to San Francisco, where she met her husband, an academic, and subsequently moved to upstate NY in 2001. There she sang as a professional soloist and taught voice, and then in 2002 they moved to Washington, DC.
Since living in DC Ms. Rubens has sung with the Washington Savoyards, the Opera Theater of Northern VA, Washington Shakespeare, The InSeries, the Washington Opera Society, and as a soloist in several recitals and concerts, as well as a cantorial soloist with two Jewish congregations in the greater DC/MD area. Beth has been on the faculty of the Levine School of Music, The Washington Conservatory of Music, Mundo Verde Public Charter School, and Rochambeau, the French International School. She was music director for the Oyster-Adams middle school musical for seven years. Ms. Rubens is also proud mom to two teenaged music lovers.
